Hi all,
3/4 of the way through my engine conversion into my VK and have re-wired everything under the bonnet and everything works except the reverse lights, when i tested the original loom it connected the Big yellow wire and the light green wire together on the main harness connection near the booster so as far i thought that would be it- just completing the circuit, but connecting the two wires now does nothing, there isnt power at either the yellow or light green wire coming through the firewall, I had a look at my other VK but its an auto and is triggered buy the selector so was no help. You can disconnect the plug on it and the lights come on regardless.
Ive looked on scotts site but i still couldnt work it out via the wiring diagrams. And my reverse switch is working tested thatI have my dashboard out and disconnected if it makes a difference.
Can somebody shed some light? its go me confused.
Sorry but great problem
Um what gearbox are you using? normally you have a selector switch on the gearbox, simply needs an ignition wire feed to the tail lights, from memory reversing lights are earthed at the rear.
just a question does your horn work? it runs on the same cabling so it should show the fuse box & relay are ok. You _should_ have a selector switch on the drivers side of the gearbox (T5) do you get 12v+ on either wire? (multimeter time)
cheers
Scott

I did not see this problem coming its really weird, im using a T5 and all i did is run the 2 wires from the main plug down to the gearbox and now they dont work. Using my multimeter i worked out the light green wire and big yellow wire run down to the switch and complete the circuit with the the old gearbox so as i said all i did was reconnect them and now nothing, im just stumped.
Does someone have a diagram of what all the wires on the main harness plug do/ are for?
is the switch f&*%$@ maybe its not sending power through
what happens if you join the 2 wires together? if the lights work then you may have a dud selector switch.
Also check for 12+ on either wire, as its a switch the wires can connect either way around.

Not getting power to the switch, switch is fine. i double checked i connected to the same wires as he old gearbox and i have there is no power at either wire where they come through the firewall. Horn works.
you should be fitting a relay anyway to stop 12V from running through that switch. so that way you can just hook up a constant power wire to the yellow and use the green wire as the on/off for the relay. granted, its prolly a bit of overkill for just two 21W globes, but future-proofing yourself buy looking after that switch.
just my 2c
