hey would anybody know how much a vk would weigh with an injected 5ltr and th700 gbox in it?
10 liters of aussie v8 cant go wrong
Probably around 1300kg's some of the guys here will know as they have done the conversion and have a weigh bridge certificate.
vb sle with v6 and t5 with turbo kit weighed 1500kg the other day
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
WOW! Thats heavy, how much extra stuff was it carrying just for the turbo. My VK weighed 1190 before my conversion to v6 and now sits about 1cm lower at the front with the same springs so it cant be that much heavier, i will have to get it weighed.
it has a lot of thick sound deadning like 6mm thick or more tar and its heavy stuff soon to be stripped offas well as the headlight wiper motors rear doors are allready gutted of electric window parts

tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
doing the sums id be sayin round 1650
It depends on which model its based off. the SL/Executive models are 1200kgs, Berlina about 1300 and Calais, 1450kgs.
Cheers Damien"SL/ENUT" Smith, The SL/E Fanatic!
A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
I weighed my VH SS with EFI 5L and T5 on Qld Transport scales.
1383kg with about half a tank of fuel (63L tank)
He said sl/e so that puts the starting weight between berlina and calais . ss are light as hell to start with .
ah ok my vk is an sl with a berlina interior ìt dosent have power windows mirrors or any thing is there any thing i can do to reduce the weight?
10 liters of aussie v8 cant go wrong
Anything that you take off the car is gunna reduce the weight , just depends on how far you wanna go , start by chucken your spare wheel an replaceing it with a space saver one , removeing all the tar matting/sound deadning will get rid of a bit more ( be a bit noisier on the road though) take off all your body moulds few kilo there ( hey every bit counts ) badges , subs and amps add weight . Rip out the fuel tank an put a smaller alloy one in the boot . The list goes on .
My stock VH SL/E 308 weighs 1250 kg - with trimatic.
My stripped out VC with V6 and T5, road registered, no back seat, no floorcoverings, no headlining, no soundproofing of any kind, but it does have full body mouldings, weighed 1140kgs with a full tank of fuel. Not a lot of pleasure in driving it on the road I have to say.
cheers for all the help i asked because here in whyalla we have race ya mates where u can take ur car to the drag strip and have a run and i was going to enter the vk and try and see wat the best time i could run
10 liters of aussie v8 cant go wrong
my VK was 1500 with full tank of fuel (90L) power mirrors, power windows, aircon T5, big brakes, bar skirts, side skirts, group A wing, sound proofing & underfelt alot of additional weight I reckon I could trim down a VK to 1200 with a 5L that would be a real nice rocket.
cheers
Scott

Wanted B Cast Heads PM for details
take out ya back seats aswell if ya gunna do that , just a little less weight
my SS has A/C, velour interior/rear headrests, powersteer, central locking (aftermarket) and the EFI 5L weighs more than the carbed engine.
So apart from electric windows, it's fairly similar spec to a SL/E.
it doesn't lugg around a big doof-doof stereo though, which saves a lot of weight (something people overlook when looking at weight saving)
I also weighed the mates EFI 6, VK Calais at the same time I weighed the SS, it weighed 1350kg.
Just a few links all weights are in here .
