Default removing rear windscreen VK sedan

did a search and got overwhelmed.

how do i take the rear window out? is it something i should call a glasier for? or can i just kick it from the inside.... without breaking it of course.

Flick in the inside seal and push gently with feet. I think also you need to scrap outside seal too.

yeah i figured that seal would die. so should i razor blade off the outside to make it a bit easier? is it a two piece seal, or just one?

thanks for the quick reply btw.

One peice rubber , Instructions . first pull out the chrome locking strip , thats all you will need to replace ( available from rare spares or any one who stocks there shit ) save the chrome corners , just pick it out with a screwdriver , second get in the car now kneel on the back seat an using the palm of your hand push as hard as you can on the glass in one top corner ( dont worry you wont break it , unless you crack it with a hammer , its toughned glass and will flex quiet a bit ) now with your free hand and pull the rubber edge outward moving along the screen concentrate on getting one corner out , once youve achived that simply just push it all the way out .

Apon replaceing you will need some rope ( not nylon ) or i use telephone cable works well , some soapy water , winscreen sealer . Now make sure that the rubber is clean and free of crap . starting at the bottom in the middle feed the rope/wire into the lip of the rubber and run it all the way around ( using a srewdriver to push it in is handy ) and tape the two ends to the inside of the screen . now spray seal with soapy water and sit in windscreen arpeture , get in the car ( it helps to have two ppl here , one on the outside holding downward and inward pressure on the screen ) right now starting at the bottom in the middle workin your way evenly toward the corners pull the rope / wire toward you , you will see therubber pull through and start to lock into place . Work your way around the corners ( bit tricky but ull work it out ) and start to come up the sides ( be carfull of the trim here it might wanna pull through with the robe/wire , just stuff it back in with a screwdriver if it does ) > rito about 3/4 the way up the sides it will be necesary to give the outside a few good downward slaps with the palm of your hand , HARD slaps not girrly shit , dont be scared YOU WILL NOT BREAK the screen , go back inside and pull the rest off the rope/wire through make sure u grab both ends and do it evenly ( it maybe necessary for a few more slaps working accross the top ) . Walla ur screen should be in . Now lift up the rubber on the outside an shove the nozzel of the windscreen sealer under it and run some all the way round ( personally i dont do this step because if your rubber is clean enough and in good nick u shouldn't need sealant ) ,clean up any excess with turps or wax an grease . Now for the tricky bit , getting the locking strip back in ( there is a special tool for this , but u can use a screwdriver ) , put one side of the locking strip in its place then using soapy water an fltbladescrew driver work the otherside in its a bit tricky but ull work it out . Have fun

Jet boy, VKs don't have chrome surrounds. Most have just solid rubber.

Sum do sum dont , but your right majority have solid rubber , just follow instructions emmiting the lockin strip , i threw that in so'as not to cofuse . BTW the few VKs with lockin strip that ive come accros may have had a VH seal in it or simply a mock up , its been many years since playing with these old girls
