hey guys im looking for a good security alarm for my car my car hasnt got any alarm on it u could just pretty much just pop the lock n hot wirer it n #### off with it so any reconmendations
put a kill switch hidden sum where. a alarm isnt gonna stop someone that really wants your car
yeh i spose might just put in central locking
i could still get past that with a screw driver, what you want to do is delay anyone attempting to steal it . the imobiliser in a wreck i have connected to the main two wires from the ignition they made it look like the main wires kept going but they were chopped at the firewall and it had a different set of wires popping out to reconnect up
steering wheel lock and a hidden kill switch. Cost you about 20- 25. Won't stop thieves but the club lock is definatly a deterent. Killswitch will also stall time
i have a killswitch, clublock, alarm with immobiliser and a full metal jacket around the column you could do all of these things ive done it will slow someone down enough to look for an easier car to grab central locking wont stop anyone theyll just pop your 1/4 window ,or just leave a pitty in the backseat that will stop almost anybody.
im in the middle of wirering up a switch im useing 20 amp wirer 4mm
were did you get the metal jacket vk6?
i was pretty lucky and found mine on a wreck at pick a part as for buying them new i wouldnt know where they are sold.
just customize one
covered in depth here: How to make the VH instealable?
if someone wants your car, they will get it. breaking into these girls is a 20 second job, starting it a 30 second job, breaking a steering lock 5 second job, bypassing a kill switch 15 second job and if all else fails they can bring a tilt-tray truck. best thing you can do is keep your car in safe areas and make it less theft-worthy. i.e. dont leave personals laying around inside it, dont leave it in dodgie areas, dont put lots of shiny things on it that young kids want like.
failing that, there is a company that makes a removable boss kit, so you park your car, whip off the steering wheel and fit the lock to where the wheel used to be. lets see those thieving bastards take her with no steering![]()
most alarms include an immobiliser.
Make sure it's a 3 point immobiliser (ie disables 3 different points). eg you could disable the coil, starter motor & ignition module wire. Chances are the thief will give up before finding all 3 methods of immobilisation. Also make sure the remote has rolling codes.
the advantage of having a proper immobiliser over a switch, is that you don't have a switch in the car. Problem with hiding a switch is you need to find a place which is difficult for a thief to find, but also easy for the driver to access. You get a remote with an immobiliser, which eliminates this issue. Even if it has an override switch, you can stick the switch in a place which is difficult to access, as you shouldn't ever really need to touch it, unless you lose your remotes or the system fails for some reason
what about talking alarms anyone know some good ones apart from viper
talking alarms? as in: the ones that tell you to step away from the car?
pffft, just get a mongoose.
as for a cut out switch, you can use a gas/fuel solenoid from a gas conversion place so when it is activated it will stop fuel in the fuel line. This is only good for a carbie car. Advanatge of this is that your car will start, theif will think great we have the car begin to drive off then it will die. i promise you they will not stick around to figure out what went wrong.lt will last depending on where on the fuel line you put it, how much fuel your carbie will hold and how long it will take to burn it. Usual place is somewhere difficult but as close tot he fuel pump as possible, down near your gearbox, make sure it cant be seen when the bonnet is open.
Also it isnt easily by passed without tools and spares
