    Default VB Suspension

So just went for a bit of a blast through the hills and I discovered that the old VB suffers from some pretty intense body roll under hard cornering. Currently the cars sitting on pedders lowered shocks, kings sl springs, has all new bushes, tie rods ends etc throughout the car and is sitting on some 16" vs ss mags with decent tyres. What can I do to further improve the handling and try to remove some of the body roll so that the VB isnt so scary through the twisty stuff. Should I get myself front and rear strut braces? Is there anything else that can be done to the early girls to tighten them up? I had a quick look through this forum section and found nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated

i just had a quick look on the whiteline sight, if i did get heavy duty sway bars, is it case of bigger is best and get 30mm front and 22mm rear, or would 27mm front and 20mm rear be sufficient for a daily that sees weekly hills runs??

stiffer sway bars would make a huge difference.
It is possible to go too big as a car does need some body roll in order to maintain good tyre contact. Diameter depends a lot of brand/grade of spring steel etc) eg a 27mm whiteline might have less bodyroll than a 30mm in another brand.

I've got 27mm whiteline on the front and 22 on the rear of the VH. It handles extremely well, even on the couple of track days I've taken it out on and watching the video footage it sits nice & flat into the corners too.

So personally, I'd avoid going the 30mm front. I think it's a bit too big. If was a VN onward I'd probably look at 30mm, but for a VB-VL, 27 should be good. Whiteline (and other brands) also sell adjustable sway bars now, which may also be a good consideration

30mm would be a dog to drive everyday IMO.
My Subaru has massive sway bars (for its size) and every bump the car wants to spear across the road.

yep 27/22 combo is great but if you havent already got one id invest in an lsd, with stiffer rear bar they tend to try and lift the inside rear which can lose you drive out of the corner.

yeah i need to get an lsd, unfortunately with the vb-vk the easiest way is to go is to swap the whole axle and drive shaft for a vl unit which is a fair bit of stuffing around

No.. See that's illegal on two fronts.

The VN diff changes the wheel base, which is illegal.

And the spool is for people who enjoy wearing helmets everywhere.
