hi all i was just wondering if there is a difference between 9 port and 12 port intake manifolds? i had a redline torker 2 manifold on my car when i bought it and i recently took it off to replace a gasket and noticed that there was only 3 ports when i thought there would be six so it got me wondering and i thought id have a look but i couldnt find and info on the net so i came here
yep the shape and amount of ports is different the 12 port blue/black motor head flows better the nine port is off a red motor.
what type of improvements could i get from gettin a 12 port manifold? how hard would it be to trackk one down these days?
what engine do you have because if you own a vc you should have a blue motor in it already and already have a 12 port manifold.you wont fit a 12 port manifold on a red motor if you have got that so no improvements but you can put a 12 port head on a red motor but that means drilling extra water holes using a blue / black headgasket as a guide.
i have a black 12 port head and a 9 port intake manifold
and it fits ? if it does i cant see it fitting properly there would have to be restrictions to flow ,correct me if im wrong fellas ,if so a 12 port manifold would be alot better.
heres the difference bottom red head siamese ports top head is blue / black motor big difference in design.
yeah mate it does fit, i didnt think it dhould but it does i drove it around for a year with no problems till my exhaust gasket blew. then i pulled it off and noticed that it sould be on a 9 port head
I'm very suprised the 9 port manifold fit. It left a big gap around the centre ports when I did that many moons ago.
Readline made a manifold that where supposed to fit both red and blue/black motors.Stock 12 port carby manfolds are crap, its hard to get a good single carb manifold to suit the 12 port head.
