hey there looking to upgrade my diff in my commodore.
its curently running the factory 6 cylinder open wheel diff yet it has got a mildly worked 308 & trimatic
what is my best option as a straight bolt in diff and what sort of ratio should i be using
Cheers Kurt
What cam are you using? what is its power band? What size wheels & tires have you got, what sort of driving do you do? are you going to keep the traumatic gearbox?
I picked a VL turbo diff (3.45) for my VK based on my wheels & tires T5 5 speed its a great setup for trips & track days, down the freeway it revs lower than the 3.08 diff & 4 speed it replaced and has a quicker pickup with the higher first gear. I ended up installing a Kazz LSD centre in my Diff. You may opt for a VL V8 LSD with a 3.08 ratio same LSD as the VL turbo just taller ratio. That was you keep the same ratio as your open wheeler.
Else you may find a 10 bolt salisbury suitable or even a detroit trutrac or Kazz LSD
Depending on what model VK 84 or 85 will depend on iff you have a borgwarner or salisbury diff.
