It has to be something to do with the clutch. Its either adjusted wrong or completely stuffed. Did you pull the pressure plate off to inspect it or just look at it?

i did not remove pressure plate just poked around with torch looking it looked pretty fat and healthy.. i got the transmission from a guy from ebay it is out of a vk.. 1 other thing came to mind last nite while pondering the ball joint behind the fork could it be screwed in too far??.. its not the cable as i have fitted a new one and even to the point of putting a hose clamp at the firewall end to get that little bit extra pull out of it and get the pedal to sit flush... what else could it be either the clutch is toast or the ball joint needs to be adjusted ??? does this sound about rite i honestly am cooking my brains trying to think of what else it could be

You may have a bent or broken fork, that will do what you are experiencing too.

off the top of my head i do believe it was penrite gear oil 75 has 75w-80... but im fairly sure its got to be something besides the oil.. if it was working and feeling shit through changes and noisy and all yeah i could understand oil but not even shifting into gear... my good mate suggested last night to put it into first hold my foot on the clutch and try start it this a good idea or just do more damage??? any help today would be really appreciated so i can go home and attack it..

The clutch plate could be stuck to the flywheel if it has been sitting for a while. Try what your mate said and be ready to jump on the brakes when it starts. It will make a loud bang when the clutch plate releases but shouldnt do any damage. I have seen this done on brand new cars that have been parked in car dealerships for a while.

i took the more dramatic alternative dropped the gearbox out again... and the oil i used in it wasnt gear oil it was penrites hypoid oil.. anyways i have the box out the clutch off... clutch looks near brand new no blue tinge on it is still really meaty and looks fine and the pressure plate side looks new too... so i wasnt lied to about the new clutch in it... so after some elimination i compared both the forks i have and they are both exact same so not bent... i have new clutch cable fitted compared the two cables they are same.. im thinking maybe it has something to do with the ball joint that the fork pivots on im guessing winding it out further will bring the fork forward more could this maybe help me or make things worse??? any ideas or could it have been what tree cutter sugested and just the clutch sticking from sitting for the last 8 months or so... or is it possible to over adjust the clutch cable somehow???? any ?????

How much slack is in the pedal? Is the pedal up near the brake pedal or really low?
