OMG, Cant wait got a red 202 motor going into my babyy NEXT WEEK! cant waittt! to drive the fkn thing!
i'll keep all your advice in my head because i know one day its going to come in handy..
tryna think where in melbourne is there a good place for me too really open her up!![]()
TALK SHIT, GET HIT!
Do you want the bad news?
Yeah, Gotta get it on the road.
VB was the last red motor. Vicroads will get really cross if you put one in a VH. Not to mention the EPA.
yeah alright soop whats the bad news?
TALK SHIT, GET HIT!
You will be lucky to get it registered with an older engine fitted. They wont register it in NSW,I know guys who have tried to do this before (in NSW anyway)and it got knocked back..
lol, No way in hell will it get rego'd anywhere in this country.
+1 will be difficult to get rego'ed - unless you know a dodgy....
Don't know if it's just me ('cause I'm old) but I'm having trouble getting excitied about a red 202...........
No its not just you.
I spose its better then walking... just.
If they pick it ya rooted though, if the EPA pick it your double rooted.
why didnt you just buy a blue/black 202 theyre as cheap as ,one just sold on ebay a couple of days ago very clean black motor with all accessorys new alternator including the trans for $61 i was going to buy it myself for spares but i cbfd picking it up.
yeah i think this is another case of OP hasnt done enough research.
im sorry OP, but i did say to ya that you should be reading up on things before you go ahead with something.
put a LS1 in it![]()
yeah you need to use the blue /black headgasket as a guide to drill a couple of extra water holes and the later top end bolts straight on a red block still dont know if it would comply though.
it more than likely would comply if you put the entire blue top end on with the pollution gear.
nah it can have the old number as long as all its emissions are met. so if ALL the gear off the leter 202 is installed, itll pass. not sure if you need an engineer, or if vicroads/rwc guys have the authority.
to the OP
not sure what the rules are in the other states, but yeah might have some problems getting a red motor registered in a VH...
but otherwise ignore the critics, I had a lot of fun with my old 202 powered VH, whilst it wouldn't exactly blow the doors off the newer stuff today, it certainly had more than enough power to get myself into trouble back then.
as for finding places to open it up.... I know I'm going to sound like a nagging parent, but don't stuff around on the street. There's too much to lose these days. You'll end up with your car impounded and your licence suspended. Take it to your local drag strip or race track. That way you can drive it flat out without having to worry about the law and/or other motorists.

It would be worth a call to Vic Roads to check before you went to a lot of trouble. The blue 202 has a different head, porting and pollution gear. It will be good for 83KW @ 4000RPM but it still won't sound like a V8.
