I am restoring a VC and I'm having rouble removing the doors from the car. I've tried to use a punch to knock out the pins but there is not enough clearance to to knock the pins out straight, they hit the door (curve of the door). I've found there is little clearance to hold punch straight too.
Any advice/suggestions? I'd appreciate your help - thanks.
the pins in VC doors can be a real pain -there is a special tool that is available but even with the tool it has been known
to take an hour per pin to remove. they just simply seize in
probably best advise is to go visit a panel beater who has been around for a while, and they'll talk you through it.
buy a commodore door pin remover theyre about $40 and make it fairly easy to remove the doors theyre a thin rod with threaded ends and caps that goes through the hollow door pin and a metal bar with a fork on the end just put the bar over the pin and hit with a hammer but dont forget to remove the check strap pins first.
Spray and sock the pins in either CRC/WD40/Penatrine
