1982 vh 253 v8

I have a problem with my VH. It seems to idle ok but when you try to put the foot down it goes to stall until I back it off. It also seems to backfire when I get the revs up. Any ideas on what the issue may be would be much appreciated. Cheers

Carbie could need an overhaul or clean out and tuneup, Check your sparkplugs and for good blue spark, check your ignition timing.

what carby is on it? if its a quaddy your secondary flap spring may need to be tightened a bit.

it does have a quaddy on it where abouts would the flap spring be???

you gotta get a very small blade screwdriver and hold this part still. dont turn it just yet.


then you gotta get your torx key in this. its realllllllly hard to see when its on the car. but its there. get a small mirror if you need to. loosening off this will unlock the retrun spring and if you dont have your blade screw driver in it, itll undo to zero. so once the torx screw is undone, turn the blade screwdriver about 1/2 a turn clockwise and then tighten up the torx screw. take it for a drive and do more if it needs it.
