Hi guys
Found this car at the scrap dealers and am wondering if anyone knows if it could be something special?
Three things make me wonder
1. Gaurd flares
2. "Marlboro HDT" sticker in the engine bay
3. Missing ID tags.
Not really sure where to find any other info, but am trying to locate the previous owner hopefully to shed some light on its history.

Pics would be cool
I understand that the HDTs where all VCs even the Prototype and 001. I think HDT produced 15 VBs for the around Australia rally but they would be easy to recognise. Most likely a mockup? I understand that when a car is scrapped the ID tags go to the Roads Authority. It is recorded so as it can't be rebirthed. The scrap dealer should have a record of the ID tags.
there was only one or 2 vb hdt brock cars as they were the prototype hen production started using the VC model

What that was/is, is a mock up.
As said above, only 2 VBs were done, the Atlantic Blue 000 VB SL and the two tone green 001. Both are still about.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
As above - 2 VB's and both are positively accounted for. Virtually impossible for this car to be a HDT. There were heaps of mockups built in the late 80's and 90's of varying quality.

Got some pics up
thanks for the info
looking at pics the rust has perforated the roof and pillars. even if it was hypothetically a 'missing link' it'd be not worth salvaging; once rust has perforated these areas the car is a goner, welding these areas may make it sturcturally unsound.
ring hdt and they will ask u for the body number and if it comes up on there system its been there, i did the same with my aero to find out if it was a hdt built.
Just saw the photos and ahhh NO! A Marlbro HDT sticker in the engine bay does not make it a Brock.

Whatever it is, its a sad bit of gear thats for sure.
Going by the numbers on that tag, it looks like it is a extremely rare VB SL ,that originally came with a factory big block 173.
i have a vb sl that was originally a 253 & 4spd now its a 308 4spd. pretty rare these days but a few crop up every now & then. a 173 is far from a big block by the way...

I take it that's the OP's letter in the new AMC mag.
