    Default VH aircon box rebuild?

Hi there, iv taken apart my dash in my VH SL/E cause I'm replacing my heater core which leaks and crash pad which is badly cracked. I also had to remove the aircon/ blower motor under the glove box (big job). My question is, can u get a new aircon/blower box for VH or is there some1 u take it too to get rebuilt. If so who rebuilds them. I know they have a aircon core inside the box as I have stipped one b4.

as far as i know the only new part for the heater system you can get is the heater core; a quick google of VH air conditioning parts suggests nothing new is available. Your local air-con specialist may be able to rebuild, however you may be left scouring the junkyards for a good used one.

yeah air cond guys will be able to make you a new core for it. they will just use a core off something else and solder this and that on there so it fits. the blower box you will have to salvage from a dead VH.

cant imagine itll be very cheap though.

the problem is getting the evaporator core out of the plastic box/case

you can't dissemble the box, you'd have to cut the box open, fit the new evaporator core and then get it plastic welded back together
I'm in the process of getting my A/C going again in the VH, the evaporator I have doesn't leak, however the core is all blocked up with dust etc from years of use, I can tell by the lack of airflow out of the vents with fan on, that the core isn't allowing a lot of air past because it's so blocked. So it's not likely the air conditioning is going to work very well if the airflow is restricted past the core. I'm going to attempt to blow out as much crap as I can through the recirculation flap, failing that I might end up cutting the case open and getting it plastic welded back together
