    Default VK 253 with HQ engine mounts

    Hi all, I am trying to find any info on bolting a 253 into a vk with HQ engine mounts.Has anyone tried it?I know there should be problems with the firewall and sump clearances ,but how much?

    Sump, and oil pick up (most likely dipstick too) need swapping out,
    Engine mounts not sure on,

    Re-read O/P so, this last line of reply is irrelevent... lol.

    They will fit. I think motor will sit a bit forward more. Don't hold it to me. Cheers Jason

    Use VB-VT engine mounts what ever you can get that will suit the accessories you have bolted on tot he engine in the positions your have

    as others have said you need a commodore sump

    you will also need to comply to the emissions of the car or not tell the RTA/dmv/vicroads etc that you swapped the engine

    The rubber mount itself is interchangeable but the bracket that bolts to the chassis is not, as above you will need VB-VT brackets, sump, oil pick up and dipstick.
    Be aware that a red non pollution motor will not comply with VK ADR rules such as carby, inlet manifold and heads.

    OMFGLOL. um yeah so 27 says if you are going to the effort of 253, you may as well go 308. itll cost you an extra 500 bucks

    I got bored and started to put a bare block plus gearbox in today,it fitted with ease(about 60mm further back) but it looks like the steering might be a problem when i put the heads/extractors on.How close is the stock sump to the crossmember normally?

    27? I want to spend $0 on my commodore and use the parts i have.I allready have two 308,s in my torana,s

    k. well 27 says you cant have a 253.


    you cant argue with 27

    (god, i hope its 27, not 23....)
