Hi, has anyone had to install a transmission where it just won't slide into the torque converter that last 10mm? I am fitting a turbo 700 from a VN 5litre to a turbo pattern 308 from a WB Stateman. Tried man handling it tonight and had to give up. Please help!
Just read somewhere that it is better to put torque converter on trans then bolt to flex plate. I will give that a try.
I know with trimatics ya gotta slot the converter in further for every gear. We normally sit the trans up (between 2 blocks of wood on either side of the output shaft, so it sits on the extension housing), then sit the converter in the top, spin it both ways, wiggle it, keep doing that till it drops down, pretty sure ya go down 3 times, ur t700 might be 4. Normally when my fingers are crushed between the converter and rear of the bellhousing I know it's in all the way!
If ya just sit the converter in and do it up, it just won't work. We learnt the hard way, after we done it and put the motor back in and tried starting it, wouldn't budge coz it was all locked up. And yeah same thing, the box was about 10mm off the back of the motor, but we just did it up not knowing wat the go was. That's how ya learn tho lol.![]()
