Thread: Should I keep my SL/E standard?

Question Should I keep my SL/E standard?

I'm restoring my VB SL/E and was wondering if it will be worth something decent if I keep it standard. It's nothing special being only the standard SL/E with 253, trimatic, no fast glass or central locking etc...
I am her second owner and have the original service book with the 100k coupon still in it and all it's details. It has only got around 97 000 on the clock. I've had it in a shed for the last 10 years and there is some rust in it that I am cutting out properly. At some stage some mice moved in for abit until I found them and they chewed important stuff like the upholstory. This will cost a mint to get fixed.
If it's not going to be worth more than what I put into it I would like to do a few things to it that will ruin it's originality.

What do you guys think, worth keeping original?

It's your car.. if you get bored with having it all original go for it, me personally I would.. but then again less than 100,000 on the clock and being the first Commodore model I don't know..

Remember you could always revert it back to stock too..

Yeah, the low k's and some documents to support it have really got me wondering. I think the mods I want to do would be past the point of no return. Keeping in mind it's pretty ratty at the moment too.

Well i say keep it original cuase there isn't many left like them anymore. But if you do modify, keep all the original parts for safe keeping, when the day comes back to restore it

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!

Yeah, you've swayed me fellas. I'll keep going with the standard resto and only change a few things that I can swap back. I might get another VB later and try my ideas out on a base model cheapie. Cheers.

Go the standard resto everytime. Keep it original and a classic, especially as it's an SL/E V8
