How much oil do i need?
i know its basic question but #### you i can't find it with my feeble google skillz
Should be in the owners manual somewhere
lol i'm afraid i wasn't so lucky to purchase an immaculate 85 vk with owners manual included, it's just a few hundy bomb mate so please spare me the humour.
is there an E-book or something i can download?
better yet someone who's changed the oil recently give me a rough amount?
About 3.5 litres.
keep putting it in till its half way up the dipstick?
is that a trick question?
I thought it was 5L??? A bottle of penrite HPR30 fills the sump, filter etc up to the full line on the dip stick
not like my LS1 that takes 1 1/2 bottles

from memory a Commodore 202 takes about 4L with the large full flow oil filter
Stick 3.5 in and check the dipstick, if it needs more, top it up. It's not rocket surgery...
####ing useless siblings with oil eating 4 bangers
now i've got 12 litres of oil
Thanks guys, i realize its not brain science but #### that tedious bullshit.
its nice too have something to aim at rather than throwing rocks until you hit something.
Ls1 should take 5.5ltrs of oil. Totally off topic.
As for checking the dip stick being tedius. Perhaps you should just walk?
Im pretty sure my 202 took 4-5L cant remember exactly been ages since I had a 202. Sorry OP but..
Maybe the LS1 adventra uses a bigger sump as I went through a heap of oil doing the last oil change and using a synthetic it was a bloody expensive oil change! And yes the engine drank it all I didnt spill a drop

Wasnt tryin to be numerous mate. If I was I would say keep filling it until its at the top of the oil cap. Some people dont know that that kind of info is in the owners manual. Theyre usually the same people who dont know how much oil theyre own car takes and too lazy to add a bit at a time and check the dipstick.
monkeys437 don't know that most vk commodores lost their owners manual 10 years ago.
like i said i'd rather have something to aim for and set out for that than pour in 500ml at a time and find out i've got ####in 8 litres spare.
And i wanted to save a bit of scratch aswell, call me a jew if you want but since i couldnt get a straight answer for a good few hours i just went and spent a $50 on enough oil to last 5 years.
i'm a ####ing unemployed kid tryna fix my car up before i go halfway across the state for a ####ing job interview alright, i can hardly afford the petrol.
but you ####ing cocksuckers would rather take the piss out of me than drop a simple ####ing answer and let the thread die off into obscurity for some other dumbshit like me too find.
have a nice day
common sense mate have a look at the size of the sump how can it hold 12 litres of oil? compair the size of the sump to the 4 litre oil bottle. Are computer kids smarter? you lot all ways tell me you are.
come on kids don't tell me your the apprentice that doesn't put the sump plug in and wonders why he cant full it up.
Fark, whatta ya want, someone to come do it for you?
You got a rough amount to go by, chuck that in then check it on the dipstick and add more as needed.
If checking the dipstick is too tedious for you go pay to get it done. Will cost more but the only dipstick that needs checking then is the driver...
Gregory manual says 4.3 lts including filter.Cheers Darryl
I cannot comprehend how this thread is still going, FFS buy 5 litres of oil, pour about half in check your dipstick, then add small amounts accordingly, its not as if the thing is going to explode it you put half a litre to much oil in it. Start it up wait for oil pressure, turn off, wait a couple of minutes, the recheck your level and hey-presto, you have now changed the oil in your 202. Congratulations.
