Hi ya was just wondering if anyone out there can remember much about the VK bt1's i have a white one and was wondering which state it was a cop car in? i'm guessing NSW? or WA? it was built in adelaide but i'm uncertain if SA used white at all i'm thinkin back then they had light blue VIC had absinth yellow and not sure bout the rest and the old does it have bt1 on the plate question dont work well with the VH-VK cause ive only ever seen a 6 cylinder manual VK with bt1 on the plate that was white- all the other ex-cop VK's ive ever seen even with numbers still evident on the roof did not have bt1 on the plate this appears to have only been ongoing from VL onward and kinda sparodic before hand anyhow the car had when i bought it the cop dash, shifter, wires up to the roof still, extra horn(dual), extra wires and a relay for the head lights (what was that for?) calais interior light, plain black map pockets, standard SL interior and most telling the ariel hole smack in the middle of the rear half of the roof its also got rust stain lines across front of bonnet and down both sides of the car so you can see exactly where the decals were positioned its obviously an old V8 auto trans general duty cop car but where from? i also have an d1008 paint code VH ex cop and yep no bt1on the plate but obviously ex V8 cop it to has the fine incremented speedo shifter etc etc i dont think the public could buy a 5litre SL VH back in 82 could they only SLE? also the paint code is apparently government only during that period- thanks heaps for any help![]()
i dont know much bout VKs but i think the BT1 pack had a Brocky 5 liter and a special code aswell, plane jane on the outside but with that brock 5 liter under the bonnet, special dash cluster their 'accurate speedo'
Only the manual BT1s got the V5H performance pack, hot 5litre. Also plated BT1s had no rear stabilizer bar fitted.

no rear stabiliser bar on them kinda dangeruse?
Actually its not that bad. You have to remember, lots of the police had the boots full of equipment so would be heavy.

i did hear reports they were 'twichy' at high speed and they hated the small boot of the Commodore
Most VB-VK wagon's don't have rear sway/stabiliser bars either. Alot of offroad 4b's remove them as well to get more wheel travel...so it's not uncommon.

Top stuff - thanks heaps for that info ive heard bout the stabiliser bar thingy once before but at least now i know for sure the car i got has one and also just the stock LV2 black motor no brocky gear just a run around the city throw the bad guy over the bonnet jobthinkin now the extra wires with the relay for the head lights had something to do with it having spot lights on the front when the coppers ran around in it- be good to see what it actually looked like in its day ive seen the usual pics but this thing was heavily stickered (decals covering the whole top half of the sides of car like doors front and rear panels) the pics of the white VK cop cars i can find arnt so decalled its an oct85 build with blue interior the cars in the pics ive found are all brown interior so guessing 84 models?
