Default VN V6 4 Speed Auto behind Blue 253 Vh

Was wondering if a 4 speed auto vn v6 gear box would bolt up to a Blue 253 vh and if so is it strong enough and what is involved in hooking it up. Thanks.

Nah the t700 is turbo pattern (obviously lol), and all 253's are trimatic pattern. So an adapter plate would be needed to make it fit.

Off topic, so what are 308s? Some trimatic and the later the turbo pattern. Im a little confused.

You can get 308 Trimatic blocks re-drilled for turbo pattern so I can't see why you couldn't do the same with a 253.

Also, my inability to see something is a persuasive reason for you to adopt my point of view, is it not?

The VN-VT 304s were all turbo patten, the older 308s had mixture of both turbo and trimatic blocks.

As said, get the block redrilled to suit the turbo pattern, the two middle holes and lower holes have to be done.

Don't need a spigot bearing with an auto Ari.....

Although, as far as i know the spigot bearing is the same size for all Holden V8's (O/D).

"spigot bearing hole=10mm deep for trimatics and 15mm deep for turbo" says my book.

it goes on to say "if you try to install a turbo transmission to a 10mm spigot hole the torque converter does not have the clearance required and will cause problems"

Well, there you go, just one more reason to start with a Turbo pattern block (and a 308).
