Gday, I have picked up an 1982 vh 253 185 ex Police car.VH 8VK69-185. Have been told that it is an ex highway patrol car. I have googled high and low and cant get any concrete joy as to what extras it had. No increments on speedo,No front ash trays. No dome or sle interior lights. Has rear retractable seat belts, wiper dwell switch, on off switch next to dwell switch. has the remains of rectangular spotties, Saas leather sports steering wheel,twin exhaust with extractors (could be aftermarket) Speaker fader switch next to ashtray.High top centre console. Any help would be great

Someone may have gave you the wrong info.

185 is an option pack on a VH SL Commodore
Has 253, trimatic, full instrument dash(volts, oil, tach), duel exhaust, height adjustable drivers seat, rear retractable seat belts, dwell wipers, left hand mirror, rear seat speaker. Thats the full options on what it had ex factory.
