Default VH SLE Odometer and Fuel low light faulty.

    Hi,

As the post says im have dash issues. In all honest am i better off taking it out and having a fiddle or just buying a different one for about $100 ?

Also my fuel low light starts flickering every time i hit a bump, accelerate or turn with less than half a tank of fuel and the gauge drops to nothing with about a quarter left, SO ANNOYING!!!!

Is the fix for this in the cluster itself or am i better off getting another tank?

Odometer not working is a common problem, you can get reconditioned & recalibrated speedo's from licensed repairers, or just a used one off eBay / wreckers etc. If you have cruise control make sure the speedo you get has the cruise cable connection on the back of it (I believe this prevents the cruise operating below 60kph). Your low fuel light problem sounds like a fuel gauge sender issue (in fuel tank).

Are regular commo senders the same as SLE ones? (No different wires etc)

yeah should be. which engine tho? you will probably need to stick to whatever engine you have i.e. carby 202, efi 6, V8 etc as there are quite a few subtle yet great differences between them.

Yeah, the stupid VK electronic dash fuel senders dont work with a normal dash to start with. A non SL/E sender may not have a sender for the low fuel light and only the gauge.

the senders are different, they have a low fuel switch built into the sender with an extra wire at the connector
as far as I know only the SL/E and SS had the low fuel light senders

Hmmmmm, Are the senders built into the fuel tanks?

No they are a bayonet screw type fit - see link and scroll down to ari666's embeded picture - should give you the idea.

A couple of V8 VK questions

    as Derek said
but they are interchangable between other VB-VH models. It's just that you won't have your low fuel light if you use a sender unit without the low fuel switch
