    Default V8 Starter motor help!!

V8 starter motor is there different size's? I just put the V8 in my vk and bolted the starter motor, and then, as I put the pacemakers in the starter motor is to big..........I just what to know if there's a different between the blue starter and a red starter. If I can use the red starter motor it will be great. Then the pace's will fit.

nah shouldnt be a difference afaik.

my pacies juuuuust touched my starter (stockie) by a bees dick, which burned out the solenoid, then i put a red one on from a HQ, fixed it for about 3 weeks, killed that starter too, then had to by a hi-torque starter to clear it properley and never had a problem again.

just make sure it engages and disengages properley and doesnt get stuck.

    Can you use a VN-VS V8 starter? I believe they're smaller.

That's from memory of what I've read. I haven't actually tried it. Makes sense though, the blocks are pretty much the same.

I'm using a a starter on my carby 308 that was bought for a EFI 5.0L VP. Only thing I had trouble with was finding bolts for it (couldn't even find any second hand).....which turns out bosche make also and are available from Repco lol.

Ok, When i brought the cam at autopro, the guy told me to rev to 1500 for 10mins. Its a baby cam, crow cam 280/ 110/486"...2000 to 4800rpm. But i do have another cam its a bit warmer than that, crow cam 300/109/ 495"......I have to tell you's it's a blue 253 that i have. I know its a 253 but to me its still a v8. Before i had kids, I had a vr s-pk bt-1 v8, it went!!

Looks like a fan spacer out of a Kingswood.

Here's a 253 we pulled out of our old Kingswood, same spacer.

Building a 253 instead of a 308 is just like using carby heads instead of EFI heads!!

lol ari, I have though about it mate, to find a carby 308 around here is like finding a needle in a hay stack!! Wreckers do have efi V8 for $1650 without wiring, computer, and bolt ons..... I did have a 308 but my old man using it for his Hq....I heard some bad thing about 308's like valves burnt outs, cams snaping, i think they also drop cylinders....I dont know if they are true, maybe you guys could shed some light for me pls? I also do have another stock 253, and thinking of spending $4000 on it......danny8 your motor is nuts!! oh yeah, the starter motor a real tight fit bugger me
