Say No To Ricers
Any VH pics with the aircon and pwr steer? should be a blue 202ci/3.3L...
Hey VKbelina, who made that plenum for ya? is that a polished bosch one?
jhow the heck did you change your engine man?! ive been thinking of doing that myself, the engine is getting old, and ya know.. 240km per tank of petrol is pretty crap for city driving with petrol prices and all..
Adox: I did the plenum myself it took 50 hours to do it up out of an original VK manifold, its a shame to see it sitting in the shed in a box now. I also did a polished throttle body & fuel rail. I started polishing up an aircon compressor & air flowo meter but them I pulled the engine out.

and where did ya get the engine from? i was reading your website and while its got a lot of good pics, and good instructions, prices and an in depth look at how to do things would have made it one of the best sites ive seen.
Can you have a blow off valve if you get ur v6 supercharged?
i found this picture of a supercharged v6 and was wondering if that was a blow of valve in the picture?

Superchargers can/do have blow off valves, yes.
Tara: Sorry I missed your post, dont be embarrased we all start somewhere I will dig up a pic of what my engine bay once looked like. Time well I have lost 2 girl friends over the last 5 years that tried to pull the line its me or the car all I could say was the car was cheaper, didnt argue or get jelousMoney wise I shudder to think what its cost me.
Trendkill: which engine? 202 or 304? 202 was a ACL race series build, full balence & blue print job, I built and after the block cracked it was going to cost around $1200 to bring it back to life so I opted to to go the EFI 304 which was purchased form a local wreakers stripped I put rings & bearings through it, new cam lifters, bottom end balence & blueprint, nothing over the top I want something I can drive on the street easily.
The intake manifold on the 202 was still a stock manifold with all the casting marks cleaned up & polished along with post matching the manifold to my head, EGR setup removed, throttle body was the same matched to the manifold & polished inside & out.
Performance wise it went very well it used to smoke a series 1 VT V6 auto a mate owned it did embarass a few cars, fuel ecomony wasnt there it used to chew through 70L of fuel in 350km flat out, on the road on a trip with highway driving it was pretty good around 550km to a tank around town about 400-450km depending how I drove it.
With the 5L I should have better fuel economy, better drivability, and more power.
PS: I found an early pic of my engine bay, only with a resprayed rocker cover I couldnt help myselfThis was around april 2001

hmmm interesting.. i mean im not really too fussed performance wise, the standard black engine can fly when its warmed up .at the moment i do 240km per 44 litres of petrol.. so anything better than that, plus unleaded petrol will eventually save me money..
haha and talking of girlfriends, my girl is a rev head who has hotted up her ford festiva... yes, you heard me right. if i had a pic at work id show you all. it does look cool.. and the point is she encourages me to do it. if anything, im the one that usually tells her to leave her car alone :P but meh, ive had a change of heart and wanna make my vk a car i could keep for a good 10 years, a new engine would definately get a few more years out of it, espcially when there is nothing wrong mechanically or body wise with it.
heres a pic of mine but its fully stock standard as i only just got the car but im only 15 and looking for ideas eg, paintwork, mods, stereo's and the interior. also other lil things that will make it go better and look better. so any comments are welcome!
thanx tukrbox
PS. the pic is a lil crooked as i took it in pitch black (last night)

Don't mean to hijack the thread but someone can hopefully answer this simple question. I've always wondered about the big "dimple" (that looks more like a dent!) on the driver's side inner guard just down from the strut tower that's on all the early commodores. Very obvious on tukrbox's pic. Was it manufactured that way to allow clearance for the installation of the 253/308?
im pretty sure i dont have that to be honest :| and ive got the blakc engine.
