Hey, just wondering if any one could help me out, i have just picked up a wrecked VN wagon with a 5 speed and im looking to do a V6 convertion to my 85 model VK sedan. The wagon has got a LSD diff in it and i was just wondering if it would fit into my Vk sedan? and if not what do i have to change?
yeah the diff will fit fine i've done this swap before when i had my vk 5litre so it's all good and you planning on puting it on yourself
Apparently it bolts in, but is wider. That's what I was told on here a while ago when I was looking into it.

Someone told me that the shock mounts are different or something is that true? . . i have had some many differnt people tell me diffrent things so i just want to know before i go and start pulling my hole drive line apart just to find out the wagon diff wont fit, i know its about a inch and a half wider but thats a easy roll the gards fix.
well too me even thought it only a slight differents between the diff's it dosnt mean that its not goin fit, if your not sure with yourself take off the wagon diff, jack up the vk rear end and compare the different that way you a have a fair idear of what your looking
Smart idea, will give it a go. Got the Girlfriends dad giving me a hand with the holeconversion hes a mechanic so im saving y slef quite a lot of money.
cheers and if you have some spare time try to converted the whole vn interior to the vk that would look good hey seen it done before
I've also been led to believe the diffs are different. The shocks face in toward the centre of the car on a 25degree angle (roughly) as opposed to a sedan which has vertical shocks.

oh my bad his right i forgot the vn is a wagon
I don't know if this really helps but here goes...
a few years ago I watched my brother and his "mates" pull an LSD out of a VC wagon and try in a VH sedan... only to put the old single spinner back into the vh.
Definitely not a straight swap due to the shocky mounts, but if u got a welder and a grinder it wouldn't be hard to make it fit. But yeah it's also a bit wider so no good if ur gonna lower ur car.

Dont really wanna muck around with cutting and welding to much, if i get a VN sedan diff can i take out the center of my wagon LSD and put it all in the sedan diff?
Sure can![]()

where are you locted?
Housing and axles wont make a difference as long as the moutns are the same.
VN diff in a Vk, Watch your track measurements as it will put them out by 37mm. If you can get axles to suit the carrier in the diff you can swap them out (Maybe a VL V8 diff and tail shaft), even your disc breaks will bolt onto the backing plates for the old drums.
So your saying use the axles and center out of the VN diff in my VK diff?
the diff is at freeling.

to fit a wagon diff into sedan just press the lower shock rubbers out of sedan shocks and use wagon bottom rubbers, done it ages ago in my vc sedan. the only different is the sedan has the steel tube in the rubber and the wagon doesnt.
