VK Handbrake

Ok, i broke my handbrake

when i snapped my shifter lever i had to pull the button off the handbrake to get the center console off to get it all welded up.

So when i was smacking the button back on i pushed the metal rod in the middle of the handbrake all the way down, i have pulled it back up most of the way but cant get it the rest.

Obviously the handbrake is not working not which kinda screws me since its going in for roadworthy next week.

Do i need to take the handbrake assembly apart and somehow fix it or can i fix it by just pulling the rod all the way back up somehow.

Or have i completely broken it and need a new one

turns out i broke a spot weld, just replaced the thing for a grand total of $20.
