Hi guys just had a quick question, im in the process of significantly increasing the power my Vh has and i was just wondering on how much power can a salsbury 10 bolt LSD handle? I will be making about 400 RWHP the diff is 3.08 ratio so i dont know what my options are i wouldnt mind running some 3.7s or 3.9s so i didnt know if i could change the gears and make it stronger in the process. Any info would be great thanks.
350rwhp is a big ask out of a 10 bolt, let alone 400. Depends also what sort of abuse you plan on giving it, burnouts, drags etc will more than likely kill it real quick. Having said that, apparently you can buy a 4 pinion centre for a 10 bolt now, but I guess you'd have to work out whether it would be just cheaper and easier to go with a 28 spline, 4 pinion Borg Warner out of a VL V8/turbo
yeah will probably do that just get a Vl turbo diff for it just thought i would ask. Its another thing that puts me back a month from driving my beast when its done i havnt even sat in it since buying it and its killing me lol
nothing stopping you from trying it out and babying it till you can afford the upgrade. my mates 6 cylinder salisbury alsted him about a year with his 308. then again he only had 110rwkw. a far cry from yours
get a borgy cant get anything above 3.55 for 10 bolt unless you want 4.44.

Ahhhhh yes 4.44 thats the ticket! Aint no way them wheels will hold enough traction to break the diff bar slicksi got two early 5litre commodores a VK and a VH both have the old school 10bolt salisburys the VH has 4.44 gears with a mini spool and although youve shifted all 3 gears by the time your doin 80ks an hr and thinkin crap wish i had another gear it is a hell good feeling getting there- the VK has 3.08 LSD and the engine has all the usual stuff big valve heads 286 crane cam hi6 ignition 650DP edelbrock manifold it too feels wicked and although the lsd is wearing its shown no sign of breaking and i do drive it fairly hard sometimes same with the trimatic apart from a 3000 high stall and shift kit its stock old holden and has coped really well the VH is also trimatic so yeh i doubt anything will go bang on ya straight away its just more than likely gonna wear and get a little clunky quicker- 400HP does sound alot thou aye kinda 9inch territory?
go a nine inch if your going to be throwing a fair bit of cash at the motor may aswell have a driveline to handle it.
