    Default Vh T5 conversion

I have just fitted a Efi 304 to my vh with a T5 box. The problem I have is that the shifter is further back and it fowling on the back of the shifter hole. I am still to get a gearbox mount so it's not sitting in it's correct position yet, but hase any one done this before and can tell me if I need to cut and weld or if it will be right once it in is it's correct position or can I get a dog leg shifter? Any help will be great.

    Check VK berlina's site:

    VK Berlina Project

When i did the V6 conversion i had the same problem so i cut the tunnel plate some more and made a hybrid with half the the vp plate riveted on the back so it would still have a lip for a the boot.
I havent got a pic with the plates riveted together but im guessing your problem look something like this:

Ford v8 T5 Box lines up better.
Downside it's got wide ratio's vs holden v8 t5 having close ratios
I'm using a dellows bellhousing to suit traumatic pattern with an ef 6cyl friction plate, holden diaphram plate and standard flywheel with the centre shaft hole enlargened to fit the foad t5 input shaft.

saved cutting my floorpan (didn't wanna do anything to my vh ss that couldn't be reverted straight back to original, this is why i chose the foad box over holden)

You shouldn't have to cut the floor pan, i didnt with the V6 version but the V8 maybe you do.

Man I should really read stuff before I write. Not going the cut the floor pan just going to try the bracket and see how I go from there

Mate I cut some sheet steel to shape. Sealed and pop riveted in place. Covered the hole fore the shifter with a decktite sealed and pop riveted in place. Worked for me.

Wateva you do just make sure you reseal the hole in the floor as good as you can, othrewise you get a heap of fumes through there

ive fit a T5 to my VK, its sits way furthur back but it still fits and you can change into all gears just fine, just put a plate on top of it and its fine, some HDT VKs came out with a T5 factory which sits in the same positon they just have a plate like REDVBs over it with the 5 speed cover on the center console.

I've got a billet shifter on mine though so it sits a slight bit different.

the HDT VK's, VL & Walkinshaw were fitted with the American T5G which had the shifter box on the extension housing located further forward like the Ford T5. They were also fitted with a weird gooseneck shifter

But the VN-VR T5 still fits ok in the early girls without the need to cut into the floor. I made up an aluminium plate like VBRED and then cut a cover for the console out of MDF and covered it with vinyl.
    Looks almost factory now

    Same here.
Made a hybroid plate with part of the VN, part of the VH and a bit of sheet metal. Fits without cutting the floor but i am still going to have to make a dog leg shifter as when pulling the gearstick towards me it fouls slightly on the console. You can also get the T5 console section and boots from ebay. Cost you about $200 all up...

if you dont move the shifter forward as I have done and as VBRED suggests your centre console wont screw in properly and will sit about 30mm too far back. Its a really easy fix of making up a plate I used some offcut steel I had laying around, I tapped a thread into mine to help the nuts lock up on it, best to use nylock lock nuts and add a spring washer its a major pain the the arse if they come loose (it happened to me)

If you modify either a factory manual VB-VK plate or adapt the later model plates it will help properly seal the transmission tunnel
