There was never a VB-VL shape ute, so a panelvan could prove difficult to fabricate.
would be cool though
Yes holden never had a ute or van style VB-L commodore but i have seen verious versions of utes mostly being a VK based type and looking pretty good, i have also seen a one tunner VL with calais nose and looks fantastic.
I have seen a few panel vans on the net and as far as i see they are just a wagon with the rear doors welded in the glass in the rear doors and rear sides removed and replaced with steel plate and they also look a treat, not to forget a VN style one i think it was i have seen in real life as well as a EF-L wagon converted to one.
It is actually a HG holden but who cares

With a standard height roof, it would probably be better termed a sedan delivery.
Yes cool to do.
Years ago there was an HJ(?) wagon done that way.
The construction of a VN in this style (^^?) was covered over a series of articles in Street Machine a few years ago. Maybe they have back issues or you could purchase photocpoies through the publisher. I think that had extended and suicide hinged doors so might not be directly transferable but would give a reasonable indication of how to approach it.
hey thanks for the replies im not real keen on the back window of that hg but the rest looks cool as for the first one thats awesome dont think id go that far though id probably leave it at this stage with the back doors welded in etc

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
All it takes is a welder, a few sheets of metal and some (read: lots of) bog
try a google search for "the motivator" it was around about 15-20 years ago i think using a vk commo front and a rather out there paint job

Ohhh I get it. I get jokes...
Are you sure? Pretty poor attempt if it was.
Anyway, back on topic, it's pretty hard to make a "true" panel van out of a wagon. As has already been mentioned, a wagon turns into a sedan delivery. To make a panel van, you really need to raise the roofline quiet considerably.
To give you an idea, have a look at any panel van from the front, then look at its sedan, wagon, ute variant and see how much the roofline has been raised.
I do recall a few years back a vk panelvan getting around Sale, Victoria. Havent seen it for a few years - But did look like a good effort.
I know there are a few guys from Sale on here, maybe one may have a photo.
To make it legal there is alot more too it then that. You have to put re-enforcement through the door to connect b and c pillars if you dont when the body flexes it warps the flat panel you put over the outside.
I brought my vh wagon with the intention of doing this but after alot of research gave up on the idea.
