    Default dieseling 5lt

    hey folks i have one for the mechanics out there. just had the quaddy rebuilt on my 5lt and it was going well. i reset the carby to retune it and now i have a motor that is dieseling after turn off and idles really badly. all ignition stuff has been changed and all vacuum lines are hooked up, so stuffed if i know whats happened.

    out of curiosity... what does dieseling mean?

    timing out of whack, carbon build up in the heads.

    Anitdieseling solenoid not working correctly, idle solenoid not bring back butterflys past idle setting.

    I'm 99% sure the quadrajet doesn't have an anti-dieseling solenoid, only the varajets.
    but yeah I'd be checking for correct adjustment of the idle solenoid

    the main butterfly on my carb dosnt evan close it stays open 24/7 lol i look at it and the links on the side that make it open and close are all messed up

    or also the float/needle/seat not closing properley or too much fuel pressure (needs 6.5 to 7psi)

    thanx guys for all your input. timing is no issue, it turns out that the mixtures were to lean and wrong adjustment on fast idle screw. reset it all last night and hit it tonight and started first crank and kept going which its never done. i normally have to turn the key at least 3 times. got lucky i guess. thanx again for your comments

    .....yep thats what its there for ....also mixture to lean and timing will cause it to run on
    the good thing about getting older....more toysthe bad news more headaches
