hey all,
Have a vk with 304, have put stage 2 crow cam in with chip to suit. the thing has intermittent power have tried everything. Is it something that goes with vn v8s or what?? Some days wont do a dirty single in the wet and other days will twin in the dry. Also somedays it seems to backfire alot. Any help would be good... I'm a mechanic and shes been doing it for a while, F**king thing has PMS. Help....

Who did the EFI conversion?
What computer are you running? (If Deleco what commodore was it out of)
If its a Delco have you pulled out any fault codes?
Who did the tune?
what are the specs of the cam?
What else has been done to the engine?
What gearbox & Diff?
What exhaust are you running?
It could be anything from a dud sensor on the engine, bad fuel, bad tune, ECU going into limp home mode for some reason, even a blocked Cat. We need more info

ECU is out of vn as per the engine, tune(chip) came with cam from Mace, is crow stage 2 i think its 214/218 something like that. Have diagnostic plug but no light so can't read the faults and dont have a reader anyway. Got the 69mm throttle body from mace too. Everything else on engine is stock except adjustable fuel reg. Trans is turbo350 with shift kit and diff is standard 3.08. Fuel system is out of VN SS. Exhaust is VN extractors 2 1/2" exhaust, high flow cat and 1 sports muffler. Its a single system. Not sure what else to tell ya, i'm confused as its really good some days and really sluggish others.

If you have an ALDL connector, warning light and 1 working eye you can read the fault codes![]()
Have a look at my site and wire in a check engine light, I use the EST light spot on my dash for mine.
Once you pull a fault code, disocnnect the battery to clear all the codes and go for a drive for about 10km and do it again just to be sure.

could be a failing ignition module or coil if it's back firing and the module won't always throw a code.
the ignition modules have a fairly high failure rate. Unfortunately it's very difficult to diagnose them when the problems are intermittent
Seems to play up all the time now, haven't done the test light yet will try between now and weekend. Other thing have noticed it doesn't seem to wanna rev above 4 grand, not like its governed just doesn't want to. Sorry for lack of info will try to get codes out soon. Wanna get it right so can go to melb C4C.

OK so here's the thing.... lol. No codes, threw all bits and pieces at it to make it work, nothing fixed it. (This bit is embarrassing... PS i'm open to slander lol) I hadn't pushed the chip in all the way, it has very responsive power now, I recommend the cam to anyone with stock inlet manifold. Runs quiet and smooth then bites very hard.
