    Default diff I.D.

    Hi All
Im working on my VC tag reads paint: 1d 001-d looks like a canary yellow. Axle gu7 I also have a spare car paint 568-30517 axle gu4 colour is red. Both are standard vc l models. Are the axle codes just a different ratio what are they ? Also what are the colour names for the paint codes? Any info would be helpfull.
    Thanks Dave.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!

Not sure if this will help you or not, My VH SS (factory 308, m21, 308.1 LSD) has an axle code of GU4. Funny enough my VB 202 trimatic also has on it's tag an axle code of GU4.

Looking at a max ellery's book, it doesn't refer to the axle code in the diff section, so i looked at the extra section for LSD diffs, no nothing there...
Further along it then lists axle codes in a table box listing engine, gearbox and axle combinations to then give you a part number for the tailshaft used in that particular combination.

If i used the info in the table in the manual, i'll need you to tell me what engine and box combination you're using to let you know what it say's which tailshaft to use with your choice of axle/diff
my camera is stuffed else i'd take a photo of the page for you.

    Cheers
