    Default bonnet strut mounting??

    hey all!
    has anyone fitted bonnet struts to either a vh or vk??
    if so where did ya locate the mounting points and what length are the struts uncompressed from end to end?

    I got my kit off ebay....might even be the exact one Scott posted up.

    It's not hard to put them on, and definitely a MASSIVE improvement! It's just good lifting the bonnet and not having to hold it to put the bonnet stay there (which gets in the way). I lifted the bonnet on RIP202 the other day and the bonnet took off outta my hands...lifted by itself! That's luxury haha!

    whats the length of the strut from center to center @ mounting hole with them uncompressed??? would help alot...as i already have the mounts for em

    I got vs struts and bottom mounting bracets and Falcon early 90s model top mounting brackets. The Falcon ones have a longer thread.All you have to do is remove a bonnet bolt and replace it with the falcon bracket. The bottom one requires you to drill a hole half way between 2 mudguard bolts. Be sure to mount the bottom bracket as far as you can towards the motor with the ball facing outwards.If not fitted in the right direction without enough clearance the bonnet will not close properly. Cost me no more than $10 at my pick and pull wreckers.Works a treat on my VH.

    yeah cool! i got the vs ones too plus mounts, wasnt to sure on drilling into the the gaurds tho, as they dont fit into any of the gaurd bolt holes u. looks like ill be drilling! did u go to capalaba wreckers for yours?? i did!

    Yeah got all of the stuff from Capalaba wreckers. Be sure to mount the guard bracket the right way around so that the bonnet will close. Its like a luxury car now when I open the bonnet.
