Default Fitting clutch cable on to pedal

Is there a right way to do this. I have put the pedal box in place but there is no way of fitting the cable on to the pedal because of the limited space. I have tried to hook it from the engine bay side without success and no room to work under the dash. It is a V8 pedal box.

You need to pull pedal up, make sure the return spring isn't attached. Its a bit of a pain with big hands. You haven't got the clutch cable hooked up to clutch yet?

No SL/ENUT. The engine, gearbox and steering column is out. Can just get a finger on the end of the cable and that about it. My thoughts are get some very nose pliers and try through the tube from the engine bay side or unbolt the pedal box and push the cable though and get as much slack possible and fit the cable before bolting the pedal box up. Maybe if i pulled out the pivot pin it woul be easier to hook the end of the cable with the end of the pedal. This is all time consuming frustrating stuff delaying me from putting the engine in. Don't emove the pivot pin, thats the biggest mistake you can do. Trying to think when i replaced the cable in my car.

it's a pain in the arse, especially if you have big hands
First, make sure you haven't connected the clutch fork end until you've hooked up the pedal
you've got to pull the pedal forward with one hand and get the other hand up above the pedal shaft. It's difficult to explain, but I get the cable on top of the pedal hook, and then with my index finger I push the cable end over the hook. Trick is though, you have to kind of roll the cable end forward over the hook. I'm fairly good at it now as I used to have to replace my cable regularly on my old VH (the car had issues!). But it's still not easy.

But yeah, don't go pulling pedal brackets out or pivot pins.... If you have big hands, try and find someone (mechanically minded) who has smaller hands and might be able to get their hands in there for you. GMH certainly never thought that one out well.....

Thats because the 6 cylinder clutch pedal has a different hook to the V8 one. Like i said, make sure the spring isn't hooked on, makes it a bit easier. BpITA to put the spring back on though lol.

Thanks for the replies. Sorted. I found it relatively easy to pull the pivot pin out. You can the easily hook the cable with the pedal and the put the pin on. It helps if if you have a helper putting a little tension on the cable so it does not unhook. The pivot pin is easy to put back in on the V8 because it is easier to get to. The 6 would be a nightmare.
