Hey guys i am in the middle of my VH with VN series 1 V6 and box build incase you dont know it a Green VH VN V6, full VN loom Green trim with VS Berlina seating plus some other small bits from other commodore models. I have decided to go with a dash conversion now to change the inside of the old girl either VR/S or 1997/9 Mitsubishi Magna.
I intend to used the consol and dash cluster from either model so if anyone out there has some ideas or iinfo on this let me know even if ya have a few pics would be good.
If i go with the magna knowing that it is similar size width wise to the VH dash now i will need to relocate the hand brake to the driver side of the consol and will need to find out how to do this, as i said any help will be great cheers
Check out my thread. Another VK V6. I have been working on fitting a VR dash with a full VR loom(including BCM), an ecotec out of a VT and twin turbo's From a Nissan Patrol. The VR dash so far has been a pretty easy exercise but I havn't finished it yet. I'm planning on a full VR interior including all door trims and seats etc. I have also found a VS berlina with power windows, climate control, level 3 dash and an elec sunroof which I now want to put in the old girl. Goodluck with the conversion. I have been enjoying doing mine so far. Not too many headaches.
Any chance of some pics mate of the dash conversion so far cheers
Yeah just check out my thread. I put a few up last night. It's Another VK V6.
Yeah mate lookin good so far, how much room is between the sides of the dash and the doors when closed as i would like to fit the door vents too thats why i was thinking about the magna dash as its vents are on the dash but have decided to stay holden otherwise i would need to relocate the hand brake, maybe the column and the heater pipes in the fire wall are in a different spot and not to mention all the alterations to the wiring to fit VN to Magna switches.
Do you have a pic of the top of the dash where it meets the screen? keep up the good work mate i will be staying tuned to this one to see the outcome cheers.
I havnt measured the sides yet as I am not ready to fit the door vents but hopefully there is enough room without cutting to much from the dash or door trims. How is your project going? I have been away and have been trying to catch up on all my other work so I havnt been able to work on mine for a few weeks. Next thing is to plumb in my oil lines. Hope your project is coming along. I am hoping to get my turbos all plumbed in by the end of this week.
Hey mate a little more has advanced with mine have fitted the VR dash and console into it new home if only fitted by two screws at the moment lol, going to try and use the 3 VH dash mounting brackets to hold the VR dash into place as well as those two screws on the sides.
I dont think that the VR heater will find its way into the VH as it looks to be a nightmare to rearange everything under there so i will leave the VH unit and just make up some levers of sorts to work the heat/cool switch. So far the dash was not to bad to fit even up at the fire wall end so fix up the heater controls and install the VR steering column so i can have the tilt function as well as better fitment into the dash with it rather than the VN item currently in her and then should be able to refit all the wiring cool huh.
Here are a few pics hope ya like it so far,
so ar so good i think once thats all done ill be looking into new grey carpet, roof lining hopefully in grey felt type and VR/S styles door trims with (fingers crossed) door vents yeah.
Cheers guys
