Default VB, switch next to fuse box cover, and dash lights not working

Hey i just noticed a switch under the steering wheel next to the fuse cover on my VB wagon and i have no idea what it's for anyone have any idea? it's a on/off switch, its pretty long bout the size of a screw. im not keen on switching it without knowing what it does?

Also went for a drive last night and noticed my dash has no lights what could that be?

Could be a kill or spotty switch etc installed by previous owner - give it a whirl - whats the worst that can happen? Not sure about the VB but on a vh there is a dash light dimmer dial located next to the headlight switch - if you have one try moving it up and down and see if your dash lights come on - the resistors in those tend to play up.

is it in the on or off position?

just go out there fick it the other way, does it start?

if yes go around the car and find what else has suddenly turned on

if nothing happend flick it back to the position it already was in
get under the dash and see if there are even any cables to it

    it's for the ejector seat
sounds like an aftermarket switch the previous owner has fitted. Could be for anything really

The VK has a push button near the fuse box which stops the operation of the rear power windows or it could be the ejector seat.
