so i have recently done a 5.0l conversion to my VH but am still runnin the original fuel tank with an external pump.
im lookin to convert the tank and increase the holding capacity but want to keep the pump!
whats the best tank to fit to it for mounting and also filler neck posistion?
Any VB-VS tank will fit, VN-VS you shorten the filler neck slightly (its separate with a hose connecting it to the tank if you didnt know). But any 80l tank from these model will work, VN-VS you could remove the in-tank pump and fit a straight pipe of some sort in its place.
IMO you are better off going to a VN-VS tank if possible as they are fitted with a swirl pot so you dont have fuel starvation issues when cornering and when low on fuel.
I have a std VS 63l tank in my car, only mod was the filler neck, still using VK tank straps and using the std VS in-tank pump.
Unless you bought an expensive external like a 044 or the likes i would also recommend going to an in-tank pump as they are quieter and require no modifications to the pickup.
there is nothing stopping you running both pumps, I do in my VK a low pressure in tank and an 044 external and it works a treat

Loads of VB-VK information, All you need to know about EFI 5L Conversions Ultimate EFI 5L Conversion resource "
Wanted B Cast Heads PM for details
yeah iv e got an 044. i have noticed when goin around a corner or up a hill the fuel light tends to flick on when 1/4 tank.
so the std 6cyl vn-vs tanks are the same sorta dimensions as the vh?
are there ones that are deeper or sit lower?
id imagine they would be the v8 ones wouldnt they?
Scott> are the factory internal pumps already a low pressre pump or do ya have to change it to one?
thanks guys
Some V8 carby cars have a low pressure pump and all VN s1 have them, VNs2- VS all should have the single high pressure intank pump.
You probably want a S1 VN 80l tank, it bolts straight in using the straps from the donor car as they are longer so they wrap around the larger tank. i bought one but be careful as when i pulled out the pickup and level sender i found that the internal rubber return line had broken so no fuel would be sprayed into the swirl pot, which is needed to create a venturi effect to draw any remaining fuel into the swirl pot to keep the pickup submerged.
hey guys
just wondering is a 6cyl pump out of a vs big enough to run an efi 8 or will i need and pump out of a v8?
cheers Adrian
