VK mirrors dropping while driving

hey guys ive got a VH SL/E with VK side mirrors and when im driving along the drivers side mirror drops down and faces the road due to vibration. so then i put it back where i want it but 10km down the road its dropped again. just wondering if anyone as pulled apart one of these mirrors and fixed the problem. i know i could just get a new one from the wreckers but at the age that all these mirrors are at im sure to run into this problem again soon. any help is appreciated cheers guys

i should also add that they're NOT electric ... just manuel ones

If it like this one you really need to remove it and pull it apart to find out what is wrong.

nah its the vk style ones like this



might have a crack at pulling it apart this week... might be a good HOW TO to make up as i think this would be a common problem with first gen commodores
