    Default VH query

I just bought an '83 VH Commodore SL/X and in the last week I used 35L for 156k of urban driving, is this normal? It's a 3.3L V6 petrol carburetor engine. I saw figures of 10L/100k in other posts. I'm using regular unleaded with a fuel additive, I was told the car is s'pose to be on leaded. Another thing, my tripmeter and odometer are either painfully slow or there is a lose wire somewhere, it shows 75k when it should show 150, can someone tell me how to check this? Thx.

p.s I'm new to this so it would help to explain technical terms, cheers

    3.3L V6 I think you mean 3.3L straight 6
35L for 100km is bad and not normal I get 10L/100km on the freeway around town best I have gotten is 12L lately.

Speedo,Odometer & trip meter are driven via your speedo cable if they are all reading inaccurately odds are the speedo gear in the gearbox is incorrect. Else if its only the Odometer & trip meter a gear in the speedo may be slipping or something else I would pull it appart and see if you can see anything abvious

    cheers

What would be the likely problem? And how could I check this? My dads 4cyl Toyota Hiace only gets 5k/L, and your saying 6cyl gets 10k/L, I'm confused.
