Heater box issue
hey guys, i bought this 84 vk not long ago and am gettin it ready for rdworthy, ive done heaps but recently noticed a groaning vibrating sound from the fan inside, nd it would only work on full blast, is this an issue with the heater bos and has anyone else had this happen?????
The Heater box on these is crap, fan is a horrid fit in the box and rubs around the edges making it vibrate and carry on, not hard to pull out- three screws. Bit of fiddling and you get it in there a bit nicer but it will never be 100%, i used to some carpet underlay around the mount to make it seat better.
The low speeds on the fan run through a resistor block in the heater box above the fan, these get hit by debris, blow out ect and the no longer let the power through. Getting it out is a pain, pretty sure the dash is supposed to come out. Might have to find a more modern alternative.

Agreed. 12v blower to fit roadworthy requirements and bung the rest of it. And rug up good in winterJust replace it with a hair dryer
why do vh commodore heaters never blow heat out of the face vents
For some reason that's the way they were designed - heat to the floor or windscreen are your two options. If you check out the owners manual they sell it as some kind if brilliant ventilation system........ The A/C however comes out the face vents.
Ugh what a load of crap haha I don't care about it but the missus gets upset if it's not pumping out heat in winter haha
