4 cylinder diff

I have a 4cylinder vc commodore. I have blown the diff. Can any body tell me if i am able to stick a 6cylinder diff into it without modifying anything. Thanks

Should be a direct swap, the diff ratio will be different so it may seem a bit more sluggish then before.

what about the stud pattern , brakes and will the prop-shaft for the 4 bolt to it? I don't think it is a straight swap as the 4cyc wheels wont bolt to the 5 stud pattern of the 6.

You will need to use your 4 cylinder axles. 4 cylinder diffs have the older Holden stud pattern.

Just something else, why not leave the diff 5 stud and upgrade the front rotors & brakes and fit 5 stud commodore wheels

its already 5 stud. its just a 5x108 stud patern. thanks

Don't forget to swap the speedo gear over too.

The Starfires actually go better with the taller diff especially with a manual. 1st gear in the torquemaster box was rediculously low to start with so a taller diff makes it usable. The starfires were torquers rather than revvers so the 3.9:1 ratio didn't suit it.
