When i first start my car, i always feel it is running a bit rich, i know that it's supposed to run rich at cold start but this seems a little much. Normally i don't think much of it, but i let a friend drive it today and he started it cold and it didn't turn over right away and on the second start i could see a bit of white smoke pumping out of the exhaust as he turned it over, as soon as it starts the smoke stops. I also noticed sometimes when i start it smoke comes out the back also. Is this normal or could the carby use a good clean?
white smoke is actually water vapour aka steam

isnt black smoke rich?
Hmmm. I know for sure it isn't water vapor because i am not loosing any coolant at all and all of the oils are fine, when you start it up, i know it should be black smoke, but it has that fuel smell to the smoke...
Water in the exhaust from condensation is what vkberlina is getting at, i think. this is normal.
Take it easy...But do take it...
