I recently had my starter motor rebuilt and the auto elec said that it had water in it at some stage. I didn't think too much of it at the time as it could have happened at any stage over the cars life. Now I went to start it on the weekend after a couple of weeks off the road on the bloody starter has gone again! I haven't taken it out (again!) yet but assume the same thing has happened - how could water get into the starter motor, what could cause this? There are no water leaks under the car or anywhere I can see. Welsch plugs were my first thought, but water in the starter motor? The car lives in the garage and has not been driven in the rain for years (haven't washed it for months either). Anyone had this before / thoughts?
If it hasn't been through the car wash, doesn't have any leaks and hasn't been driven in the rain I'd take a stab in the dark that you have a different issue.

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
I recently sold a car that had been sitting for 4 years in a concrete floored shed, The starter motor was almost new when it was stored, 3 months after I sold it the starter died, water was blamed turned out moisture had gotten from just sitting around,
Around the headers the heat would normally dry out any moisture
