    Default speedo cable help

    my speedo cable was working then stopped so i had a look and it broke off about 2 inches from dash i have a vn t5 manual into a vk dash not digital any way i purchasd the new speedo cable and looks like the one i took off and screwed the trans end in and same for the dash end but nothing happening
    i took the dash out and drove to see if it was turning but not turning from the tranny end is their a certain way to put it in as the last 1 mechanic put it in cheers any help would be great

    have a look on my site at the gearbox mounting in modifications section, I think your plastic thingy that the speedo cable goes onto is broken, is yours the same as mine?

    yeah the same mate but it was working b4 just snapped at the dash end same cable as urs.. does that sender go all the way in the hole as i cant see any thing like that

    its easy to break the driven gear off in the transmission (autos) i assume its the same sorta setup in manual? you gotta treat it like a lady when you stick it in.

    neither really. i am talking about the driven gear. looks kinda like this:



    if you force the speedo gear onto the driven gear itll pop that driven gear right off the shaft and youll have to take the nose off to put a new one back on


    edit* to see if its borked, stick your finger in the hole and you should be able to feel the top of that gear in the picture. if the shaft is smooth... shes dead

    its working now i threw out the black extention on the end wth old cable now its working thanx for the help
