my battery light is constantly staying on, half of the functions on my dash arnt working, i get hazards, temp gauge and indicators everything else dosent work, when i was driving it whenever i was reving the oil pressure and volts gauges went up everytime the revs did? i have changed the voltage regulator on the altinator and that did nothing. if anyone could help me figure this out that would be great, cheers
How are the brushes and slip rings?
i havent checked those? i have no idea how to check that tho how would? ive been told it may be a voltage stabilser behind the dash
I once had a gauge that wouldnt work. I changed the dash backing plate and it fixed the problem.
Is the battery charging? With the car idling measure the voltage across the battery terminals. Should be more than 13v
First of all your oil pressure should fluctuate acoring to engine rpm so that sounds normal.
I would check your earths, engine, dash etc and then see how it goes.

i have checked the battery and thr fuses and thr battery terminals everything is fine on that side, i have been told its the regulator behind the dash cause there was a loud click from behind the dash and then all the problems appeared? And i only have a oil pressure switch not sensor im running the gauge because i have a sle dash on it and havent changed the switch to sensor yet so it should go up with rpm if its acting as a idiot light?? I have got the regulator out and it is yellow in some places, looks like its blown but ill take it to work and see?
normally when they blow there is a small hole in them, yellowing can be normal 20+ years old heating up and cooling down etc, but probably blown or has a fault I think your on the money
If your oil pressure guage is instantly flicking scale to scale then it sounds like a power problem but if its moving steadily its normal, if its flicking as your alternator is kicking in your dash voltage reg isnt regulating power properly or you have a bad earth.
If you get the codes of the reg, im sure Farnell or WES components will have something to replace it with.
