    Default same or not?

I recently bought a EFI v6 VK sedan as a toy/project. But it needs a new trans. I found one locally cheap from a VL.
Should be same yes? I know vaguely that the black motor has the crank sensor in the bell housing so you need the late model box... Am I close? Rather not Buy the trans and add it to the pile of car parts in the corner.

Not even on the same planet

VK had an EFI 6 did someone install a V6?
    VL 6 is also a straight 6 a completely different straight 6

VK Carb ran a CAS EFI VK didnt

All VK EFI 202s were Autos is yours still an auto or has someone converted to a manual?

If its still an auto you need a Trimatic affectionally known as traumatics

    My apologies. It's a straight 6 EFI
So I just need your average trimatic?
Are they same as red motor stuff where the bell housing is separate from the actual trans housing or is that only manual stuff?
Im usually good at mechanically minded stuff but I haven't dealt with black motors before and tbh I have barely looked at the car.
The obvious answer seems to be to get my ass out there and pull the box out. See what im actually playing with.

I think the EFI 6cyl trimatic was unique as in it was a VK 6cyl casing with V8 internals for example the extra clutch pack.

They are a moulded unit so the bellhousing is part of the box.
I remember there was something different about the EFI box I cant remember what it was but a carbie box will bolt up and work. as the black blocks were the same.

Whats actually wrong with your box?

Apparently it doesn't select any gears. I also noticed it's leaking fluid. I winched the car on the trailer and dropped it out the front. It hasn't moved.
I need to get a battery and see what the box actually does. If it's difficult to get a VK trans, I've got a VK 5litre and a v8 disk brake diff I can always chuck in. Still leaves me with no box though =(

The 6 cylinder efi trans were a 253 trans set up for the 6 as the efi 6's made more power than the 253, i dropped one of the engines in a Vk wagon years ago with a celica 5 speed back to a Vl 3.45 diff. Was awesome with the 5 speed, had no probs leaving two black liquorice strips down the street ;-)

The celica box bolts on? Or I need a conversion?
