Urgent help regarding vk Calais dash please

Ive been Looking at cars and found a nice vk v8 Calais.
Only issue is the speedo is buggered, everything in the dash works except the speedo part, is this hard to fix?? Expensive? What is it likely to be?

Any ASAP help would be BRILLIANT

Mate Could be a number of things. I assume that it is the digital dash. Could be the gear drive in the box, cable, transducer or the cluster. A new cable is about $85, 2nd transducer and cluster go for about $100 each on ebay. The biggest drama would be to replace the gear drive in the box.

Could be a few things, its unlikely that only the speedo part of the dash would die but you never know, the most likely culprit is the sender in the engine bay. Its a strange setup, it has a cable driven speed sensor right up near the firewall. Could be a broken cable or stripped drive gear also.

Not a big issue to fix, even if the dash board needs replacing. ITs not a very complicated setup, a speedo shop would be able to rig up a more modern sensor on the gearbox and get rid of the cable.

Oh ok cool so if I were to say haggle down a few hunge I'd basically cover myself? (don't wanna pay x amount of money to find out it costs that again to fix!)
It's just that the space ship looking dash has me concerned..
