Hey, I just bought a vk for a project, it currently has a 202 and an Aussie 4 speed, not sure what diff it has but it has a disk brake rear end, I am wanting to take out the 202 and put in a 308. Can anyone tell me if I can do this and still rego it in nsw without getting it engineered? I have been told I can do it, but I have to use a blue 308. Also do I just get a different bellhouseing and use my Aussie 4 speed or are the input shafts different for a 6 to a v8?
Thanks
vk you need to use a Black 304/308 you will need to upgrade front brakes, new front springs, a v8 manual pedal box, your gearbox wont work unless you replace the input shaft as well.
Your best bet is an EFI 5L conversion hunt around for the right doner car and it wont cost you much.
Unless your car is something special it might be worth selling/wreaking your car and buying a factory 5L VK and doing it up.

Thanks for the reply, I'll have a think about it and work out what I'm going to do. Mine is a 84 and I was told if it was an 84 vk I could use a black or blue 308 but if it was 85 I could only use a black one, is that correct or can I only use a black motor? Also do you know what is the difference in the pedal boxes between a 6 cyl and a v8?
Thanks
if you need n8 manual pedals in the future pm me im selling mine
I may already have the right pedal box, the person who owned it before me has changed the front and rear brakes from a v8, and also did a manual conversion as it use to be auto, so if all the parts came off the same car I am guessing that is the pedal box I need, what is the difference and how do I tell if I have the one I need?
