Hi peoples,my son has a 85 VK with a 3.3 black motor 3 speed trimatic. It was slipping badly from second to third so i decided to put new clutches in box and seals,i haven't touched valve body and the thing kepps slipping!!!When i pulled the old clutches ouit 3rd gear clutch was down to the metal,i replaced the shift solenoid with a new one and still slips ocassionally but no where near as bad.I also filed down the clutch drum to stop clutches grabbing, anyone got any ideas on what else causes these to slip? Would the torque converter be stuffed or what else could i do? It has the correct fluid and level in it as i'm a toyota mechanic but not familliar with these transmissions.
I took mine into a trans specialist as it slipped/hanging in second. It was the best $100 bucks I spent, something about a valve. They fixed it without removal.
pump could be on the way out
