    Default Vk efi

I have an old VK 202 EFI as a project car. Looks like it's been under a tree for the last ten years.
When I got it ( it has no battery) I jump started it and it started briefly. I put a few liters of petrol in it a few days later and it started straight away again.
A couple of days passed again and I put in almost 20 litres of petrol. Then it would not go. I've changed the fuel filter, new spark plugs and air filter. I've got fuel on the plugs and in the rail but it won't fire.
Seems to be flooding? Any ideas on why it won't start. I've read something about fuel pressure regulators, could this have any effect?
    Thoughts?

Yeah got spark. Distributor cap and leads are old and will be replaced, but they are working.

Well if you have fuel, and spark, you need air & timing,
What have you fixed or worked on since it was last running?
Have you done anything to the air flow meter?

That's the silly part. The only thing I did was top up the fuel cos it was empty.
I thought it's possible (although unlikely) that some gunk had been swirled into the filter, so I changes it. Haven't touched the AFM. It's got me stumped.

Seems to be working. Still pressure in the rail and I got sprayed when I changed the filter and again when I tried to change the hose from tank to filter cos it was leaking

if the dizzy has spun it wont fire when it should, i'd check that first. Esp if you havent checked it already maybe even pull it out and check the gear on the bottom of it.

pull the dizzy cap off and get someone to wind it over as you watch the rotor button. If it doesn't turn, then either the distributor gear has stripped or the cam/timing gear has broken (watch for rockers through the rocker cover - if they don't move then it's the cam gear) Very common on these old girls as the gears were a compressed fibre sort of shit. They can get brittle if the engine sits around for years without starting.

if its done a timing gear it wouldn't have spark as the cam and distributor (driven off the cam) wouldn't be turning.
Did you have a merv at the flap in the airflow meter theres a post here some where explaining the airflow meter unplug it and the vk system will not run, I think the fuel pump is working as you got a face full of fuel when you pushed the check valve in.As soon as you turn the key on you should hear the fool pump run for 2 or 3 seconds .
As a rough guide for timing the module on the distributor should be approx parallel with the oil pump

mate if its got spark and fuel i would check the air flow meter i had a vk efi 202 if the air flow meter is stuffed the car will either have symptoms of flooding and wont start {so pull out a plug after trying to start it and see if it is soaked in fuel} or the other symptom may be haveing the car start but run like shit and blow out fuel smoke as it will be running rich, check the colour of the exhaust tip to see if it has been running rich and the colour of the spark plugs if you get it started, another thing to look at is any air leaks betweem the air flow meter and the throtle body and also the plenum to the head and hoses,if its got spark and is getting fuel like you say i think this may be your problem as spark at the plug eliminates problems with the dizzy and cam gear, and if the plugs wet it is obviously getting fuel,,,,,,,
