Hi All, Have a new setup for the car . New 4" for the front, head unit, amp , rears + sub goin in, Anyone know how to do this wiring so i can still use power aerial and iv'e heard i have to rewire the fronts. All help appreciated Cheers.
In regards to your original power antenna, it should still work with the new head unit installed. My current VK and previous VC had geniune power antennas installed and worked even after I had changed the head units. There was no wiring connected between the original radio and antenna. The only explanation I can offer is the antenna reception cable (thick black one) must have some electrical current flowing through it, and recognises if the head unit is on or off. On both of my cars the antenna would raise when the head unit was turned on either manually or via the ignition on/accessory position lock. Once again the antenna would lower when you either switched off the head unit manually or turned off the ignition/accessory switch. PS, you can still adjust the height of the antenna with your up/down switch. I hope I haven't confused you too much. Good Luck.
Nah no confusion, yeah i don't know how it does it but the only way mine goes up and down is when you power the head unit.Dosen't work when i turn car off(won't come down).Switch dosen't work either, i just want it back to original for resto puposes. Thanks for the help![]()
I have the wiring diagram for the power antenna if ya want, email me and i will send it too ya.
cheers adox , i've got a diagram , i was hoping for a little lamen's advice rather than ,look a line diagram...hehe i might just be done with it and pull the dash out and fix a few things at once. cheers
so what is it that u exactly wanna do? i didnt understand your question... did you wanna replace the centre speaker in the dash? and install a new headunit?
Just one more thing you want to check, while you are checking the wiring for your antenna. Make sure your antenna module is working ok. Cheers
Im installing new head , speakers. Power aerial has been replaced previously not by me, now theres nothing going into the module, the old aerial had 2 wires , the new one has 3(brown,white,yellow) which goes into what looks like a relay with black red green coming out.Green goes to head ,red to power , black to earth. The white and grey wires that go into original module aren't being used, the switch and accesories are wired after the module on original loom with one of the two yellow wires (from module)being snipped behind the head. I want to use original module so all functions perform ie; switch on dash, accessories (aerial comes down when turn car off.At present it only goes up/down when you power the head unit manually. So what i want to know is how do i wire new aerial to work with original module? Hehe enjoy the novel, Cheers all.![]()

Hope this helps, if not please contact me again.
Thanks jpetrou, the second image is good , can you repost the 1st?As in the second wiring diagram the power aerial has 2 wires, while the replacement has 3 wires, is there a way to wire it so factory switch works? (also the aerial will come down when ignition is off)? As i know you can wire it straight to deck so it will work when you turn the head unit on at head unit.(and go down when you turn it off)Any takers? Cheers
These are the differences between mine and factory as i see it:
The yellow wire that went from head unit to module had been cut behind the head unit. The power aerial has been replaced with one that has 3 wires, not 2 like in all the diagrams. (none of these wires go into the module.)The wires are - power, earth, and wire to the head unit. All wiring coming out of module is fine apart from yellow wire being cut behind deck.
I assume the power antenna is a geniuine one. As far as the three wires going to the antenna itself. I remember the ones I installed years ago in my VC and VK had the two wires going to the module (i think red and yellow) and there was a black earth wire. I have attached a copy of the original scan that I got form the Holden VB-VK parts catalogue. See if this helps. If you need more info please dont hesitate to ask.
No, the aerial looks like an aeropro one.
